"I mainly make instrumental music. At first, I was more interested in the acoustic aspects of sound — how different parts of a wardrobe could be set in motion through different chords and detuning.

Lately, I’ve been experimenting more with a compositional approach.

With my most recent release, “o o o a lu v koma,” I tried to work with fewer elements than in my previous pieces. The result feels a little empty, but I still like it to some extent. I sampled my own drum recordings and played the melodies using a Moog synthesizer. What I like about synthesis is how you can travel to so many different places without even leaving your seat — a kind of voyager experience.

When I perform live, I don’t really play live in the traditional sense; I mostly just play back things I’ve already made. It’s a little like freestyling, at least in the sense that things can become somewhat formulaic. I arrive at my melodies and sounds through a lot of refining, reworking, and experimentation.

I’ll bring some existing recordings, including older pieces, as well as one or two new ones.

There’s a passage I came across recently in a piece of writing about music that I really liked:

“ The overtones closer to the fundamental seem to contribute more or more perceptibly to the total phenomenon of the tone — tone accepted as euphonious, suitable for art — while the more distant seem to contribute less or less perceptibly. But it is quite certain that they all do contribute more or less, that of the acoustical emanations of the tone nothing is lost. And it is just as certain that the world of feeling somehow takes into account the entire complex, hence the more distant overtones as well.”
