At the end of April, the A38 Ship will once again be wrapped in dense, vibrating darkness as the band She Past Away returns to Budapest. The duo already enchanted the A38 audience in September of 2023, and now they are coming back to pull us even deeper into their own hypnotic world.

✧ The music of She Past Away is built on simplicity and a melancholic atmosphere. The band has been shaping the contemporary face of dark wave and post punk for more than a decade: cold mechanical pulses, razor sharp guitars, timelessly dark melodies, and minimalist, ominous Turkish lyrics. Their shows are considered cult events worldwide. This night will be a return, a renewed voyage, and an intimate encounter with the beauty of darkness.

The pulsing rhythms and the sense of yearning will bind everything and everyone together, as if the ship itself were drifting into a mysterious, nocturnal abyss.

✧ The evening’s guest is Crow Black Dream, who took their name from the cult film The Crow and its soundtrack song “Dream the Crow Black Dream,” whose dark, melancholic world is also a defining influence on their music. Their sound is inspired by the Hungarian darkwave scene around the time of the political transition (Hold, F.O. System, Mirage), as well as iconic acts such as The Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, and The Cure. Their music is atmospheric and melancholic, and their introspective lyrics speak of mortality, detachment from the material world, and an apocalyptic vision.
