“By the last column of the newspaper were the death sentences, the last line said that the sentences were executed. The dismay is that you don’t have anywhere to go, or anyone to go to or a reason to go, …. because it was executed.”
The monodrama presents a series of outstanding moments in Hungary’s history, the revolution of ’56, and one of its heroes, Pál Maléter until his reburial in ’89, through the eyes of Pálné Maléter, Judith Gyenes based on a series of interviews and other supplementary resources.
PanoDráma is an independent theatre operating since 2007. Presenting contemporary international dramas and collaborating with young international directors, it is also the theatre that has been primarily covering the most burning social questions of Hungary since 2009. Mostly as a verbatim theatre , they work with word-for-word materials in documentary theatre style. The original texts give the performance a dramatic force, making them movingly real, which we can see in our newest piece titled Pali.
“ Pali is a gift-performance from Zsófia Szamosi. In the small details: the gestures and rhythms she completely transforms into Judith Gyenes. On the emotional rollercoaster she takes us through an infatuated teenager’s love, the loneliness of a worried wife, and an abandoned lover’s desperation and persistence.” Soós András
