Ex-black midi bassist and songwriter Cameron Picton and his new solo project, My New Band Believe to play Budapest for the first time on February 16th at Turbina.
Following the sudden breakup of the experimental art-rock success band Picton slowly started to build his own, completely unique, whimsical musical world somewhere along the borders of baroque chamber pop and progressive folk. The debut album was put together by a wide cast of guest musicians and features a traditional song structure defying, constantly changing collection of songs with grotesquely entertaining lyrics about love, heartbreak and sometimes ruthless revenge. The multifaceted, sometimes grand, while sometimes completely stripped back acoustic orchestration of the album shares black midi’s maximalist and experimental approach.
Live Picton is accompanied by an everchanging cast of musicians making sure that each song takes on new form night after night, guaranteeing that no two shows are ever alike.
If you are a fan of Black Country, New Road, Caroline, Elliott Smith, early Grizzly Bear albums or Daniel Rossen’s solo project, this show is definitely not one to miss.
