Founded in 1985, the Hot Jazz Band is an authentic interpreter of melodies from the 1920s, ’30s, and ’40s. The band brings to life the hits of pre-war Hungarian cinema and the popular American entertainment music of the jazz era. At their concerts in Hungary, Hungarian compositions form the core of their repertoire. Their music evokes legendary stars such as Katalin Karády, Pál Jávor, Gyula Kabos, Kálmán Latabár, Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Bing Crosby, and iconic composers like Rezső Seress, Alfréd Márkus, Szabolcs Fényes, George Gershwin, and Duke Ellington.
Hungary’s most successful jazz band has won four international and two national competitions, the most prestigious being the 1995 New Orleans International Jazz Competition in France, where they triumphed over 54 bands.
