heavenphetamine is a duo from Japan composed of Hiroki Oda (keyboard/vocals) and Sara Oda (drums/vocals). Their idiosyncratic style is a blend of elements from krautrock, psychedelia, synthesizer music, postpunk, indie rock, and acid house, with a subtle Japanese flavor. The band synchronizes acoustic drums with electronic sequences created through synthesizers and loop pedals, without the use of a metronome, which results in electro-influenced compositions that still retain an organic and punky edge, accompanied by melodic Japanese vocals.

The couple left their hometown Tokyo in 2021 and have been touring Europe extensively ever since. So far they have played more than 200 shows in 37 countries, bringing their music to all kinds of venues, from squats to major festivals such as Tallinn Music Week, Trans Musicales and Fusion Festival, and performing regularly in the war-torn cities of Ukraine and recording with local musicians. Their first full-length album ‘The Sun on a Winter Day’, recorded in Kyiv amidts air raids and blackouts, was published in August 2024 by the Ukrainian label Kontrabass, and issued on vinyl by the Paris-based Macadam Mambo in 2026.
