AT x Kővésőörs // Hand Letter Carving Camp for Beginners and Mortals Alike

During the camp, we will explore both the theoretical foundations and the practical techniques of hand-drawn and carved lettering. We’ll begin with the basics of lettering, drawing inspiration from inscriptions found in the local cemetery, which we’ll incorporate into the design of our own lettered piece. The practical sessions start with the correct use of tools, then we move on to shaping letter stems and serifs, ultimately arriving at a uniquely designed and carved inscription – the final outcome of the workshop. All tools (chisels, hammers) and materials (limestone, marble) will be provided. For hygiene and safety reasons, participants must bring their own protective goggles (mandatory), and ear protection (optional). At the end of the camp, everyone will take home their finished carved plaque.
